Community Dental Services in Torquay provides a specialised dental service for adults and children with complex needs who find it difficult to use general dental services. Based at Castle Circus Health Centre on Abbey Road, the service also runs from Brunel Dental Centre in Newton Abbot, with appointments arranged for eligible patients who meet the service’s acceptance criteria. The team supports NHS treatment for people with mental and/or physical health problems, including individuals with special needs such as wheelchair users, bariatric patients and those who are housebound, as well as groups such as special schools and people with learning disabilities. Care may include urgent treatment, examination, diagnosis and advice, preventive care and education for carers, alongside periodontal and conservative treatment, minor surgical treatment, and the supply and repair of dental appliances and radiographs. Community Dental Services also provides advanced mandatory NHS treatment options including sedation care and domiciliary dental care.
