TLC 4 Smiles in Ashbourne provides an NHS dental service with a traditional approach in a modern environment. The practice offers a sympathetic, understanding way of working with nervous patients, recognising that anxieties can make it difficult to call the dentist, and aiming to keep appointments comfortable and reassuring once patients are in the chair. Routine care appointments are slightly longer than normal, with an average wait time of 10 weeks. The practice does not currently have the capacity to see new NHS patients, but it does offer emergency appointments for registered NHS patients, while non-registered NHS patients may be seen privately on a limited basis. Emergency appointments are for urgent issues such as pain that cannot be managed by pain killers, facial swelling and bleeding, and they are not intended for routine care. The team also provides guidance on managing dental care at home via a booklet, and for emergencies outside practice hours they advise calling NHS 111.
